Question by Matty O : In IL does the IL Motor Vehicle Code or other allow police cars to disobey traffic control w/o siren & lights? For instance is it legal for a police car to enter a schools EXIT ONLY when clearly posted DO NOT ENTER. The exit is a two lane with the left lane for left turn only and the right lane for right turn only. Especially in the morning when traffic is congested and cars are trying to get out and there are lots of students present. This car continually presses in thru the middle of the exiting vehicles. smiling and waving. I believe the students are in extreme danger as they rightfully believe that no cars would be coming in from the street in that location as it is exit only.
Abuse of power for personal convienence?
I have read thru much of the Illinois Motor Vehicle Code ILCS 5/11 chapter 95 with no real clear definition as to this. Any help out there to reel this in and keep the kids safe?

They are supposed to obey the same laws we do, unless they are in the line of duty and have no alternative.
