She Finally Made it to the Crib Thanks to VTech ? Video Monitor ...

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, what about a picture of your baby? Even better yet, how about a video of your baby? Or how about this: a full motion video with 22 frames per second and 8 infrared LEDs that enable night vision and tells you the exact temperature of the room your baby is in? All of this digitally and wirelessly transmitted to a 2.8? color LCD screen that enables you to talk to and/or play music to sooth your baby. What would that be worth? As we have found out in our house over the last month, all of that is simply priceless. With the help of the Vtech Baby Monitor VM321, we have been able to sleep a little easier at night know that our young daughter is slumbering soundly and safely in the next room.

Here is the screen in color.

Here it is using the Night Vision. It shows up in black and white.

The Vtech Monitor was extremely easy to set up and install. Both the baby camera and parental monitoring unit operate on either batteries or an AC adapter. The user?s manual was clear in both its written instructions and pictures. As parent?s we have come to highly value a well written user/instruction manual. That can make the difference between a 5 minute project and an hour long project.

You can see that I used my Gorilla Pod Flexible Tripod to secure the monitor to my baby?s crib. I didn?t want to put holes in the wall.

One note that I?d like to share revolves around the mounting of the baby camera. The manual shows you how to mount it into your wall. In case you don?t want to go through the trouble of doing that or don?t want to put any more holes in your wall, we had an adjustable camera mount that we were able to use to just attach to the crib, right over a our baby. We can now move the camera around wherever we need it in no time at all and without damaging anything.? The camera part of the unit will adjust to almost any position you need it to go in order to see your sleeping baby.

Here is the bottom of the monitor where I attached my tripod.

The resolution on the monitor is clear and you can zoom in and out on your baby if need. There is a six level sound indicator that notifies you if there is any sound in your baby?s room. Also, the infrared camera works great and you can see your child plenty well in the dark.

Daddy and Eli are watching football and baby girl at the same time! One charge of the parent unit lasts about 8 hours!

This is our second child, and we didn?t have a video monitor for our first. We never got around to purchasing one and told ourselves that we didn?t need it. While I can?t say that a baby monitor is necessary to successfully and safely raise a child, I can say that it certainly makes it easier. We parents need all the help we can get and the Vtech VM321 monitor gives us that extra piece of mind when we are our most tired and vulnerable. While I never thought I?d ever want one of these, I now can?t imagine a decent night?s sleep without it. Thank goodness she is now out of her bassinet next to our bed and in her own room.? Now maybe mommy and daddy can get some sleep!
